BCSWA Scholarship



2016-2017
Scholarship Deadline: April 29, 2017

The Brown County Solid Waste Authority will once again be awarding two graduating high school seniors a $1,000 scholarship each, for the 2016-2017 school year. The purpose of this scholarship is to aid students with expenses while attending college, as well as encourage them to broaden their knowledge base of solid waste management in our area.

To ensure that your application is reviewed and processed as quickly and accurately as possible, please read and follow these procedures and requirements as written:
Procedures:
All Applicants must:
 Personally complete the application and essay paper.
 Enclose only the items required. 
 Submit all required documents together. 
 Send completed application and documents to:
          Brown County Solid Waste Authority,
          Attn: Whitney Lawhorn,
          9262 Mt. Orab Pike Georgetown, OH. 45121.
    Faxes or emails will not be accepted.
 Deadline: Only those applications postmarked on or before April 29, 2017 will be considered.
 Applications and research papers become the property of BCSWA and will not be returned to the applicant.
 Please understand that submitting this application is in no way guarantee that a scholarship will be granted.
 The BCSWA Selection Committee reserves the right to reject any and all submissions.

Eligibility Requirements:
All applicants must be: 
 A graduating high school senior, attending a public school in Brown County. 
 A Brown County Resident. 
 Enrolled as a student at a higher education institution at time of issuance. (Documentation of enrollment is required if you are selected for the scholarship.)

Application Requirements:
All applicants must provide: 
 Application 
 Essay (see application for details)
 High school transcript copy 
 Two signed letters of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, civic leader, or organization/club leader who knows the applicant personally. (Endorsements from parents will not be accepted.)
